Edo Gubernatorial Election: CAIDOV Sues For Peaceful Poll
As the Edo people elect a new Governor today, a call has gone to the political parties to ensure the electoral process is peaceful and devoid of violence.
This warning was given by the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a press release issued and signed by its Executive Director,Comrade Gbenga Soloki, where he disclosed that only a peaceful process can enthrone a genuine leader for the people
He admonished security agencies and the umpire (INEC) to equally discharge their duties without favour or undue interference ,so that the wish of the people will prevail at the end of the day.
The CAIDOV boss appealed to contestants to see the process as a race that only one will emerge and as such others should embrace the winner for the progress and development of Edo state.
“As the people of Edo decide the next governor of the state, we at CAIDOV will appeal that the process should be peaceful before ,during and after election,so that a popular and well loved candidate will emerge. The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies should ensure they carry out their constitutional duties without undue interference from any quarter. The development of Edo state should be the focus.
“We want to also admonish the candidates to see the process as a game that only one winner will emerge at the end of the day ,so that they will join hands to support the winner for the progress and development of Edo state.
Conclusively, at CAIDOV, we wish the people of Edo a peaceful and successful election, that will usher in a Governor that will be the most popular and well loved by majority of the people of Edo state,” he said.
