Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter -Day Saints Raises Hope of Patients At Oyo Hospital

The President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, Akingbade Ademola Ojo has called on well meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to assist the government at all levels in tackling community problems in terms of collaboration especially community issues that affects the downtrroden Nigerians most especially in the health sectors .

He disclosed this while leading hundreds of the church members to clear the bush within the premises of the Oyo State General Hospital Ade Oyo off Ring Road Ibadan recently .

This according to him was part of their annual community service project which brings members of the church together for community service.

The President during a brief chat with newsmen spoke through president Ojo Olusola Taiwo member of the Ibadan presidency (1st councilor) disclosed that the project which began over a decade ago is part of their contributions to community development and that the choice of Ade Oyo hospital was to help raise the hope of patients at the hospital that they were not forgoten.

President Ojo Olusola also disclosed that the All-Africa Service Project brings tangible benefits to the communities involved by addressing immediate needs and improving local environments. Whether it’s cleaning streets, renovating schools, or planting trees, the efforts contribute to a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable community. Additionally, the project fosters a sense of unity and cooperation among residents, strengthening community bonds and encouraging ongoing civic responsibility.

While speaking on how members of the Church participate in the programme He disclosed that it is by sacrifising their time and resources to the various services and activities organised within their communities. These activities are typically planned and coordinated at the local level by church leaders in collaboration with community representatives. Members often invite their friends, neighbors, and even non-members to join in the service, making it a broad, inclusive effort” He disclosed .

Representatives of the Ade Oyo state hospital Engr. Olaniyi Olatunde ,Head of Maintainance department while appreciating the good gesture of the church used the avenue to call on other well meaning Nigerians and organisations to emulate the leadership and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Saints who assisted the hospital management to clear bushy areas within the hospital.

He specifically disclosed that the bulk workload on the government is the bane of attending to some of the projects promptly.

He added that ” Sometimes we have to go out looking for money to clear the bush and to bring to life some of our obsolate equipments .” He lamented.

He also added that sometimes they got help from concerned members of the public to fix some things that required urgent needs .

While speaking on the benefits to participants the president maintained that the All-Africa Service Project provides an opportunity to live their faith through service, following the example of Jesus Christ. It deepens on their connection to their communities, fosters empathy, and cultivates a spirit of selflessness.

“Many participants report a sense of fulfillment and joy in giving back, as well as a strengthened commitment to continue serving others in their daily lives”.

In his remarks as the project align with the doctrine of Jesus Christ he maintained that the project
aligns with the Church’s broader mission of building the Kingdom of God on earth by serving others. It embodies the principles of love, charity, and community that are central to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

“Though service, members are able to put their faith into action, reinforcing the Church’s commitment to improving lives and communities across the continent.

President Ademola Akingbade Ojo however called on the government at all levels to wake up to their responsibilities in other to proffer solutions to the challenges of the masses.
