Canadian Embassy Suspends Operations Indefinitely Over Fire Incident
The Canada High Commission to Nigeria in Abuja has suspended its operations until further notice.
The embassy issued a travel advisory warning against non-essential travel to Nigeria.
The statement was made in a post on its X handle on Tuesday, November 7.
The suspension is coming after the High Commission on Monday, witnessed a fire incident that killed two persons and injured two others in Abuja.
Our correspondent reported that the fire incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
The tweet read, “As a result of the incident, the High Commission of Canada in Abuja is closed until further notice.”
The Commission has instructed Canadians who are in need of assistance to contact the Global Affairs, Canada Emergency Watch and Response Centre.
The Global Affairs Canada has sympathised with the families of those killed in the fire incident and also wishes speedy recovery to those injured.
