Buhari sacks Abuja DisCo management . See Why

The management of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has been suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari (AEDC). He gave his approval to a new interim governing board that will oversee the company’s day-to-day operations.

According to a statement by the Minister of State for Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy Agba, the dismissal, which was conveyed by the presidency to the Federal Ministry of Power, takes effect immediately.

“The presidential directives as conveyed has also directed the Bureau of Public Enterprises to establish a new management team of the AEDC,” the statement continued. Also: Naira falls at official market despite CBN Intervention in forex supply.

“However, in a memorandum of understanding MOU jointly signed by the Minister of State for Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, the Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sanusi Garba, Director General Bureau of Public Enterprises, Alex Okoli, and Comrade Joe Ajaero on behalf of the union, the Federal government has ordered the suspension of the strike, giving the union 21 days to pay outstanding emoluments and entitlements.”

“The government has described the AEDC’s nonperformance and incompetence as a national embarrassment, stating that the management team has been suspended until further notice.”
