Former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano on Wednesday appeared before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the former governor on a nine-count charge.
He was alleged to be involved in N4bn fraud during his time as governor of the South-East State from March 2014 to March 2022.
Former governor, Obiano had pleaded that he is not guilty for the money laundering charges that have been levelled against him.
The Counsel for the EFCC, Sylvanus Tahir, had asked the court to remand Obiano in the custody of the anti-graft agency.
But the trial Judge, Ekwo rejected the request by the EFCC.
Obiano will not also be remanded at Kuje Prison.
Justice Ekwo, rather adopted an administrative bail, which will permit Obiano to go home.
This means that Obiano will present himself for trial at any adjourned date coming from home.
The bail conditions included providing two sureties who should be directors in the civil service, and must own landed properties in Abuja.
He also said that Obiano should remain within Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and that his travel documents be summited to the court.
The case has now been adjourned till March 4,5,6 and 7 for continuation of trial.
