Bisi Akande, Olanipekun, Others Make New Governing Councils For Tertiary Institutions

Some prominent Nigerians, including the former Interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Wole Olanipekun, are on the Governing Councils of the newly-constituted Governing Councils of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The composition of the new Governing Councils was announced in a statement which was issued on Friday.
The statement listed the membership of the Governing Councils and Boards for the 111 federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in the country.
The list consists of five names each for 51 universities, 35 polytechnics, and 22 colleges of education.
The statement, by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the governing councils and boards of federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education for the effective management of Nigerian tertiary institutions across the country.”
According to the list, Akande, a former Governor of Osun State, was named as the chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Others who made the list apart from Olanipekun are a former Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, who heads the National Open University of Nigeria; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed, for Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; and Senator Joy Emordi, who will chair the council of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Imo State.
