Be Patient With Buhari’s Government – Hon. Bisi Yusuff

A Lagos lawmaker, Hon. Bisi Yusuff on Friday urged Nigerians to be patient with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration despite the current challenges facing the country.

The lawmaker, who is the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts (Local) said this at a media chat with the journalists covering the Assembly.

He said, “There is no alternative to the challenges currently faced by Nigerians, the citizens have to endure. The nation will overcome the challenges with the foundation being built by Buhari.

“He (Buhari) is capable and Nigerians will soon appreciate the efforts being made to provide lasting solutions to many of our challenges.

“I know things are very hard, the economy is bad, things are biting hard, but we just have to be patient because building processes always take time.”

According to him, it is better for the President to be slow than to be in a haste and plunge the nation into crisis.

The lawmaker alleged that the former administration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to tackle the problems of security, economy, infrastructure and corruption facing the country.

Yusuff, a two-term Executive Secretary and Chairman, Ipaja-Ayobo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), expressed confidence that the country would come out of her challenges.

The lawmaker, who commended President Buhari for his efforts to diversify the nation’s economic, called for a reduction in the price of  agriculture inputs and implements to attract people into the sector.

He also urged the Federal Government to ensure total restructuring of the country to reflect true and fiscal federalism.

The lawmaker then commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State for his transformation agenda for the state in the areas of health care, roads infrastructure, employment among others

On the local government administration, the lawmaker urged council administrators to look inward and increase their drive for Internally- Generated Revenue (IGR).

“All the councils administrators need to generate ideas, look inward, work on IGR but many of them wait for federal allocation. They need to think less of federal allocation.

“The way out is aggressive IGR and blockage of loopholes. Once this is done, enough money will be there to do their job and provide necessary infrastructure at the grassroots,” he said.

He told the journalists that he was able to bring development to Ipaja Ayobo LCDA, when he was the Chairman of the council in the areas of roads, schools, library, empowerment among others.

The lawmaker urged Nigerians to patronise and appreciate Nigerian-made products and services for the development of the nation’s economy.
