Bandits attack Zamfara community, kill 30, abduct 60 women
Some bandits have reportedly killed about 30 people and abducted 60 women in a reprisal attack on members of a local vigilante group known as “Yan sa kai.”
The attack took place in Kwari community of Shinkafi local government of Zamfara State in the early hours of Friday.
During his visit to the affected community on Saturday, Governor Abdul Aziz Yari condemn the attackers, noting that the government won’t dignify them with negotiation.
According to the residents, the hoodlums laid an ambush, and unexpectedly attacked a convoy of vehicles conveying traders from Shinkafi market back to Kwari at about 11.45pm.
The police revealed that said they found at the scene of the attack 13 corpses of traders and another 16 of members of the civilian JTF in the surrounding bush.
The bandits were said to have called Governor Yari using the phone of Emir of Lanka, requesting a soft landing. A furious Yari. however, swore to bring the criminals to justice, adding that the Air Force would soon smoke them out of hiding.
