Azeez Afolayan Installed As Asiwaju Of Oro Kingdom

Saturday April 29, 2023 will remain in the memories of residents of the ancient city of Oro in Kwara State for many years to come as people from all walks of life trooped enmasse to the city to witness the installation of Rear Admiral Azeez Afolayan as the Asiwaju of the community by the Oloro of Oro Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba AbdulRafiu Ajiboye Oyelaran 1.

Rear Admiral Afolayan was supported at the colourful event by Otunba Muwagun of Oro Kingdom, Abiodun Ajiboye.

The celebrant thanked the traditional ruler for finding him worthy of the honour, while promising to live up to expectations and contribute to the development of the town.

Asiwaju Afolayan also expressed his appreciation to the guests, and specifically appreciated Otunba Ajiboye a close aide of the President elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who he said played a key role in the whole process.

“May I express my appreciation to my father, Oloro of Oro Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba AbdulRafiu Ajiboye Oyelaran 1 for the honour.

“Oba Oyelaran is a father in the true sense of it and I pray that the town will continue to make progress under him.

“I am also promising to contribute my own quota to the development of the town as the Asiwaju of the community,” he said.

Also commenting, Otunba Ajiboye, expressed joy with the installation, adding that the newly installed Asiwaju Afolayan is a round peg in a round hole.

“We thank God for everything. My prayer is that this town will continue to make progress during the tenure of our father, Oba Oyelaran.

“Asiwaju Afolayan is a man of means and character, who will use his new office to attract development to the town,” he said.
