Again, Emefiele, Allies’ Arraignment Over Alleged N6.9bn Fraud Stalled

For the second consecutive time, the arraignment of suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, over an alleged procurement fraud to the tune of N6.9 billion, has been put on hold.

The arraignment slated for today, Wednesday, October 23 at a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja was stalled as the matter was not listed on the cause list of the court.

No reason was given to journalists as lawyers to both parties were absent in court.

The case was first stalled on August 17 following the absence of the second defendant in the case, Sa’adatu Yaro.

She was said to have taken ill and could not make it to court.

The president judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, adjourned the case till August 23 for the arraignment of the defendants.

Emefiele is facing 20 charges of procurement fraud, conspiracy and conferring corrupt advantages on his associates.
