AFCON qualifier: Vincent Enyeama pulls out of clash with Tanzania
Super Eagles and Lille of France’s goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, has asked to be excused from the AFCON qualifier match against Tanzania.
“Enyeama personally asked to be withdrawn from the Super Eagles team for Tanzania,” coach Sunday Oliseh said in Abuja on Wednesday while speaking with the media.
“The late withdrawal has put me in a very tight situation because I must confess that the task ahead of us is a very difficult one and I didn’t need this extra burden.
“We’re practically starting this team from the scratch, it’s not very pleasant but that’s life,” he said.
Oliseh said the absence of the goalkeeper will not affect the team. ” My philosophy is based on the team being the star…everybody doing well because the team is doing well,” he said.
In the absence of Enyeama, new invitee, Carl Ikeme may be selected for his first cap. The match will played on Saturday.
