Adanma Okpara, wife of first republic eastern premier, is dead

Chief (Mrs) Adanma Okpara, is dead. She was the wife of the first republic Premier of defunct Eastern Nigeria, late Dr Michael Iheonukara Okpara, and reportedly died early Sunday morning in an undisclosed hospital.

This disclosure was following the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s revelation while addressing Catholic Bishops in Enugu and subsequent observation of a minute silence for her.

All efforts to get across to her second son and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chieftain, Uzodinma Okpara at Umuegwu Okpuala Afugiri, the country home of the Okpara family in Umuahia North LGA through telephone calls, text messages, proved abortive as he did not pick the calls or respond to the messages.

A source in the area confirmed her death, disclosing that a day earlier, (Saturday), she had gone to a hospital “only to be heard that she died early this (Sunday) morning”.

Uzodinma Okpara was not at home, for he had gone to the hospital when reporters called at his home.
