The Power Show In Lagos

I like the power show in the Lagos State House of Assembly. It all goes back to Rule No1 of Power in Robert Greene’s 48 Laws of Power.
For those who orchestrated the removal of Mudasiru Obasa, it seemed like a done deal the moment the Speaker was ousted.
Yet, in their execution, they overlooked Rule No. 1. The so-called ‘problem child’ they believed they had subdued has returned—because, knowingly or unknowingly, they undermined the Master.
What is Rule No. 1 in the 48 Laws of Power?
Never Outshine the Master.
Avoid overshadowing those in positions of authority, as it can lead to resentment and backlash. Instead, subtly make superiors feel secure and appreciated while strategically advancing one’s own goals.
From the insights we have gathered, it seemed the Master was blindsided. So, to the masterminds, would it not have been wiser to seek the endorsement of the Master before making such a move, one that has nearly turned into an exercise in futility?
Trust, built over more than two decades, has been breached. Some aspects may be amendable, while others are irreparable.
For Obasa, as the Speaker of a legislative body, you are merely first among equals, not a lord over others.
His approach was misguided; he seemed to believe he held absolute authority over the collegiate, allegedly treating his fellow legislators with condescension.
Has he learned from his mistakes? Will he evolve into a more considerate leader, or would it be more appropriate to entrust the role to someone else—someone who can ensure that every stakeholder feels their voice is valued?
