An unfortunate incident of the death of a lady, who went missing after meeting a man on the Facebook has been reported in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The victim, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde had gone missing while attending a naming ceremony on Monday February 10, 2025.
Sources revealed that Yetunde received a call from a friend, prompting her to drop her food and leave the event.
Since then, her family and friends had been searching for her without any leads.
On Tuesday, her parents reported her disappearance at Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The police were said to have quickly taken action, and requested for her phone number to track her last call.
This investigation reportedly led them to an individual residing in Ofa Garage District of Ilorin, although his family home is in Isalekuto.
The suspect was eventually apprehended, but he was said to have initially denied any knowledge of Hafsoh’s whereabouts.
Sources however, revealed that during a search of his residence, he confessed that she had died from an asthma attack after he had called her to come over.
Tragically, the police later discovered Hafsoh’s body dismembered and hidden in a bowl along with tools used in the dismemberment.
The suspect has since been arrested and he is currently in custody at the police headquarters in Ilorin.
The Kwara State Police Command has been praised for their swift action in solving this case.
Hafsoh was a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin.
The suspect reportedly met her through Facebook, where he obtained her phone number and invited her over.
Disturbingly, evidence found in the suspect’s home suggested that this may not be his first offence; a table in his room contained tools typically used for dismemberment.
The suspect is said to be a son of a well-known cleric from Isalekoto, Ilorin.
According to an observer, the incident is a warning to men and women to beware of online dating as many cases similar to this have been reported in the media in the past.
