NAMA MD Presents ISO 9001, SERVICOM Certifications To Aviation Minister In Historic Milestone Achievements
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), under the supervision of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, and the leadership of its Managing Director, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, has recorded landmark achievements that underscore its commitment to excellence in airspace management.
In a significant ceremony held in Abuja, the Managing Director led other top management staff to present the prestigious ISO 9001 certification to the Honourable Minister, a testament to the agency’s adherence to global best practices and its robust Quality Management System. The Minister lauded NAMA’s remarkable strides, describing the certification as a perfect end-of-year gift and a strong validation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
These were contained in a statement signed by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
This achievement, he said, represents the culmination of an eight-year journey that began in 2016 following an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit, which identified critical gaps in Nigeria’s airspace management.
“Through relentless effort and strategic reforms, NAMA achieved ISO 9001 certification by December 2024, signifying compliance with international standards in safety, efficiency, and the maintenance of Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) infrastructure.
“The certification of all five major airports in Nigeria further highlights NAMA’s dedication to capacity building and operational excellence,” he said.
Adding to its accolades, NAMA was recently recognized as one of Nigeria’s best-performing service delivery agencies, receiving the Award of Excellence for Quality Service Delivery from the SERVICOM Presidency, Nigeria.
“This historic recognition marks the first time NAMA has been honoured since the establishment of its SERVICOM department in 2004. The Honourable Minister accepted the award on behalf of the agency, emphasizing NAMA’s critical role in bridging the gap between government and citizens through exceptional service delivery,” he said.
Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, accompanied by his management team, including Ndubuisi Lotenna Nmoneme (Director of Finance and Accounts), Dr. Abdullahi Musa (Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection), and Mr. Haske Jibrin (Senior Special Adviser to the Managing Director), expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service.
These dual achievements—ISO 9001 certification and the SERVICOM Award—highlight NAMA’s pivotal role in advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector. They reflect the agency’s unwavering dedication to safety, operational efficiency, and exceptional service delivery, positioning Nigeria as a leader in airspace management on the global stage.
The Honourable Minister, Festus Keyamo, commended the leadership and staff of NAMA for their transformative contributions and assured continued support to further enhance the country’s aviation ecosystem
