Suspected thieves buried alive in Ondo community

Two suspected thieves have been reportedly buried alive at Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State for allegedly stealing N130,000.

Omoniyi Alaleran and Oluwaseun Enikuomehin, brothers, had accused Igbekele Orisabinole and Ogbaro Erinbo of stealing their mother’s money.

Already, Alaleran and Enikuomehin have been arrested by the police in Ilaje and they have been transferred to the Special Investigative Bureau at the headquarters of the command in Akure, the state capital.

It was gathered that the mother of the detained suspects, Mrs. Ogunnuga lost a sum of N130,000 and accused Ogbaro and Orisabunole of stealing the money.

She then informed her two children, who thereafter tortured the duo to confess and bring out the missing money.

The deceased were said to have claimed innocent of the offence.

But, Ogunnuga’s children refused to accept the pleas of the accused persons.

After the severe torture, the suspects allegedly led the deceased inside a bush, dug a pit and pushed them inside it and covered the pit up to their neck, remaining only their heads outside.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, it occurred at Omonira street, Igbokoda, the headquarters of the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on March 12, 2016.

He explained that the matter was being handled by the Special Investigative Bureau at the headquarters of the command in Akure, the state capital.

Joseph said “We are almost concluding investigation on the matter; the suspects will be charged to court very soon”.
