Oyo Major Auto Dealer, Adigun Forfeits Multi Million Naira Automobiles To Court

An Ibadan, Oyo State automobile dealer, Wale Omo Adigun, a member of the Motor Dealers Association of Nigeria (MODAN) has forfeited automobiles worth several millions of naira to the Oyo State High Court over defamation of character.

Information made available to First Weekly Magazine indicated that Wale Omo Adigun accused the incumbent Chairman of MODAN, Alhaji Sulaimon Maito of fraud and embezzling the association’s funds.

Honourable Justice M.A Adegbola of the court 4 in the suit number 1/405/2022 ruled that Samuel Wale Adigun after failing to honour the several court’s invitation to defend the allegation against him should be regarded as a criminal and that his properties be confiscated.

The court’s bailiffs however, raided his automobile shop and carted away four vehicles worth several millions of naira while.

The court also ordered that his residence be raided and that his valuables should be seized to offset the 20 million naira fine against him.

The suit began with a writ of summons filed on April 8, 2022 with four charges against the defendant.

The writ which was taken on behalf of the claimant by Olakunle Faokunla Esq. claimed  the sum of #100, 000, 000 (one hundred million naira ) damages against the defendant for libelous publication against the claimant.

While speaking about the development , the claimant, Alhaji Sulaimon Maito disclosed that some elders had prevailed on the matter before he took legal decision, but that Wale Omo Adigun refused to step down the false allegation made against him on all his social media handles.

He specifically lamented that the false allegation had caused many damages to him within friends and families ,most especially his father.

“Since I know that I have nothing to hide as MODAN Chairman, all our members can testify to my uprightness and integrity. I took the legal means so as to save my family’s name for future purposes.

“When the matter started and my father heard about it, he called me and I told him it was a baseless allegation and he warned me not to destroy the name for our future generations,” he said.

Alhaji Sulaimon Maito however, appealed to all MODAN members to be calm and go about their lawful businesses without fear or any intimidation.

Some of the MODAN members who spoke with journalists in the court confirmed their satisfaction with the leadership quality of Alhaji Sulaimon Maito, saying that he is a tested and trusted leader.
