BREAKING: Court Serves Contempt Notice On Edo Deputy Governor Recognised By Obaseki
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has issued a notice of consequences of disobedience of court orders (Form 48) against Engr. Marvellous Omobayo Godwins of the Deputy Governor’s Office, Benin City, Edo State.
The notice, dated August 16, 2024, was issued in connection with a legal case involving Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, who is the plaintiff in the suit filed under Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/478/2024.
The defendants listed in the suit include the Inspector General of Police, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, the Attorney General of Edo State, the Chief Judge of Edo State, the Honourable Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, and the Edo State House of Assembly.
The court’s notice emphasizes that failure to comply with the directions contained in the endorsed order issued by the Honourable Court on July 17, 2024, will result in Engr. Godwins being found guilty of contempt of court. This could lead to his imprisonment if the court’s directives are not adhered to.
The notice highlights the legal consequences of disobeying court orders and underscores the seriousness with which the judiciary regards compliance with its rulings. This development is expected to generate significant attention, particularly within the Edo State Government and the legal community.
