Unmasking Tony Okoroji’s Deception 

Ordinarily, I thought of ignoring Tony Okoroji’s Saturday, 27 July 2024, write up, which was a rehash of the same thing he wrote in 2018, 2020, and 2023, but for the benefit of sane minds who the lies are capable of creating a new thinking or doubts about how we got here, I make bold to say that Okoroji’s lies and cunny propaganda traits should not be allowed any soil to grow in the entertainment space any further.

Okoroji is indeed exhibiting the traits of a sour loser, in a game which he initiated, played and acted as a referee up to the point that the National Assembly and the judiciary stepped in and took control as objective referees. Okoroji would be better off licking his wounds in silence rather than fouling the atmosphere as he wont. He is now telling a scripted story of how he destroyed the copyright sector for over 14 years, playing King Herod but hiding the facts about how he got his fingers burnt. He shied away from telling the world how he surreptitiously unleashed continuous persecution of MCSN’s staff and raids on MCSN’s offices, which resulted in litigations in which MCSN and its officials got judgements with compensations.
Okoriji couldn’t mention in his write ups the fact that he stole the name Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) from MCSN. He deliberately and mischievously covered the fact that the Federal High Court ordered the name COSON to be struck off the companies’ register and an order of court stopping Okoroji and his co-travellers from using that name. The judgment is subsisting to date. Okoroji cunningly avoided informing his readers that the issues upon which he instigated the persecution of MCSN’s officials were settled and resolved in favour of MCSN in two different SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENTS in Appeal No. SC.338/2008 between Adeokin Records Co & Anor vs. MCSN and Appeal No. SC. 425 between MCSN vs. Compact Discs Limited & Ors. Tony cleverly avoided telling his readers that Malami’s intervention as the then AGF acted upon the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY’s findings, resolution, and recommendations after a public hearing in which he (Okoroji) and his cohorts actively participated.
He didn’t inform his readers that despite his solo efforts to destabilize the music industry with his one man riot squad protests, the judgement went against him on all issues that he formulated.
Tony Okoroji, who is a dear brother and friend, should update his brain and know that this kind of false propaganda under whatever guise has gone obsolete, especially when all the issues have been judicially settled.
Okoroji, who never believed in or acted on the path of the rule of law, was advising Dangote to resort to self-help or mob action on his issue with NNPCL. I know Dangote, being an astute businessman, will not take Okoroji seriously, as it is evident that Okoroji is looking for ways of recruiting footsoldiers and cannon fodders for his cunningly devious schemes. Dangote is much bigger and very wise to see Tony Okoroji as an ally.
We are in a new age and a new era, and as Bob Marley would say, “You can fool some people sometimes, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” I would advise Tony to find a different means of livelihood and allow the industry to grow.
