A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu has commended the state party Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi for his leadership acumen, saying that he has proven to be a square peg in a square hole.
Olorunrinu stated this yesterday, while addressing journalists during the defection of a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Emmanuel Oghene Egoh, and others to the APC.
Egoh, who represented Amuwo Odofin in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023 under the PDP, defected to the APC along with the executive members and other top members of the party in the area.
Speaking further, Olorunrinu said that Ojelabi has been a good leader, whose tenure has witnessed much progress in the party, adding that he has been able to ensure the success of the party in all ramifications.
Olorunrinu thanked Ojelabi, who came with the state exco of the APC to welcome the defectors, for his ability to move Hon. Oghene and most of the LGA exco of the PDP in Amuwo Odofin to the APC and for receiving them with open hands.
The defectors included Amuwo Odofin PDP LGA Chairman, LGA Deputy Chairman, LGA Secretary, LGA Youth Leader, and LGA Financial Secretary.
Others are LGA Treasurer, LGA Women Leader, LGA Publicity Secretary, Anjous Babatunde, Chair of Chair, Ward H Chairman, two State Ex-Officio Members and several others.
“Hon. Ojelabi is a good leader, he has done well for our party. We have recorded much progress under his leadership. You can see what is happening today, a former member of the House of Representatives and the executive members of the PDP are crossing to the APC.
“Ojelabi is the best man for the job. His activities have led to the success of the party. He has united us, and we can see that we have someone who knows how to steer the ship of our party to the right destination,” Olorunrinu said.
The former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly said that the defection is the beginning of better days in Amuwo Odofin chapter of the APC, saying that the party is now being positioned ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
While welcoming Hon. Oghene and others into the party, Hon. Olorunrinu promised them that they would be given an opportunity to realise their dreams, while stressing that the APC is a party of equal opportunity that allows members to be part of its activities.
Hon. Olorunrinu said further that the APC is a party of the people that has been doing its best to make life better for the masses, and that whatever challenges the nation is facing at the moment would soon be over.
According to him, Nigerians have a lot to gain by supporting the APC, which he said means well for the people and will always be there for them.
“Our party is one with the love of the people at heart. Whatever we are doing is for their benefits. You can see what Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is doing in Lagos State and what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been doing to reposition the nation.
“There is no gain without pain, we need to bear with the government so that our nation can get out of the woods in due course,” he said.
