Ex-Rivers Poly Student Union President Shot Dead
Former President of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic’s Student Union Government, Endwell Awunze, was on Thursday tragically shot dead by suspected hoodlums in Ahoada Local Government Area.
The incident occurred as he was ambushed and shot along Ula-Pata road in Ahoada town on Wednesday night. Sources indicate that he had been participating in a protest against the tenure extension of Local Government chairmen in the state before the attack took place.
Awunze was on a motorcycle heading towards Ula-Pata road when a three-man armed gang attacked him, resulting in his immediate death. The motorcycle driver also sustained gunshot wounds and was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention. The Rivers State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the tragic incident.
