The Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Lagos West in the 2023 General Elections, Otunba Segun Adewale aka Aeroland, has said that no one has the power to suspend him as a member of the party in the state.

Addressing the media on the matter in his office located in Iyana Ipaja area of the state over the weekend, Adewale said that he had done much for the party over the years with nothing to show for it.

Adewale, who alleged that a leader of the party in the state and a former National Deputy Chairman of the PDP (South), Chief Bode George, has been persecuting him and his supporters, said that he had paid his dues as a loyal party member for many years and accused the likes of George of working against the party in past elections.

He however, alleged that Bode George has been trading the party every election year.

“You would recall that I have recently been under several media attacks by a PDP BOT member, Bode George, after I exposed and called him out on his several anti-party activities for two decades in the party.

“Also, shortly after the last election cycle was completed, some elements within the PDP who had worked against the party during the election, and were even confirmed by a chieftain of the APC (Deputy Governor) on a national TV, made efforts to rejoin the party in order to continue in their quest to strategize for their sinister agenda ahead of 2027.

“While I do not have problems with any politician cross carpeting, it is highly reprehensible that these wicked elements led by Chief Olabode George have traded the fortunes and efforts of well spirited members of the party like myself and other hardworking candidates who work tirelessly spending their hard earned money to contest election only for their efforts to become futile die to the perfidious activities of Bode George and his foot soldiers in the party,” he said.

Aeroland alleged that for more than two decades, “Bode George has traded the fortunes of the party with the ruling party in Lagos due to his alleged self appointed position of supreme leader in the party in Lagos.

“Whenever his treacherous activity is challenged, he resorts to blackmail using his surrogates to attack the person in question. It is on record that he has fought with all the Governorship candidates in the party from 2007 till date.

“Ditto for other chieftains of the, who had to leave the party for him when they could not bear his offensive.”

The politician alleged further that on the eve of every election cycle since 2011, “Bode George in his characteristic manner, would instruct members to vote for another party.

“At a time, he instructed members to vote for Labour party, the following election cycle, he took his followers to vote for the ADP. During the last election, he worked for the APC just to promote a selfish but disguised Southern agenda.”

He stressed that after the election, there were a lot of concerns about how the anti-party activities of some party chieftains, including Bode George, and some candidates of the party, felt it was high time the seasonal anti-party activity of Bode George and his co-travellers be curtailed.

According to him, this was what occasioned the case instituted at the court to compel the party to expel him for his anti-party activities, which are contrary to the constitution of the party.

“Sadly enough, Chief Bode George has added no value to the party despite the huge benefits and colossal damage he has inflicted on the party due to his double faced anti-party posture at every election cycle.

“He has never won his polling unit since he joined the party. I have not only consistently won at my polling units since I joined the party, I have equally initiated and completed several projects ranging from building boreholes, installing transformers, to renovating schools, supporting traders and artisans, and paying hospital bills of many party members till date.

“This is aside the billions of naira I have spent in prosecuting my elections as a candidate of the party since 2007. Besides the financial toll, my once thriving business has taken a great hit as the ruling APC has gone on several smear campaigns to malign my business and reputation.

“As a fallout of the way some individuals in the mould of Bode George mismanaged the election funds, I took a bold step to provide a detailed account with evidence of how they cornered the money meant for candidates to prosecute the election.

“In an attempt to save face and tarnish my image, these charlatans and their paymaster, Bode George, leveled a phony allegation of embezzling election funds against me, when in actual fact, I was not the chairman of the presidential campaign committee in the state, which was led by Deji Doherty. When I challenged them to provide evidence of their allegation, they could not,” he said.

Aeroland explained that undaunted in their quest to defame him, “these individuals went on several social media loops, calling me several unprintable names, bandying fictitious figures of monies allegedly collected by me from the PDP presidential campaign committee. Despite several warnings to desist, they continued and I reported the case to the police authorities.”

He said that the police authorities swung into action and that “some of these individuals were invited for questioning for defaming me. These people, led by Bode George, were still unrelenting in their efforts to attack me for exposing their anti-party activities and embezzlement of party funds.

“In a twist of event, they now had to use the people in my constituency; Alimosho, to attack me. Led by the PDP LGA chairman, they alleged that I collected some money meant for the LG election fund.

“For the records, let me state emphatically that I do not have any problem with Alimosho PDP. As a matter of fact, my ward has reposed confidence in me despite the shenanigans of some bad elements being used by Bode George to cause distraction.

“It is laughable that these same elements being used by Bode George would act unconstitutionally by suspending me from the party when they do not have such powers. By the constitution of the party, I can only be suspended by my ward.

“You would recall that the same LGA Chairman and the Secretary had already been suspended by the exco for embezzlement of party funds few days before they allegedly suspended me. This was a case of building something on nothing.

“For me, I am not bothered about these individuals, a lot of whom I helped to put in the same positions in the party. It is just a ploy by Bode George to create distraction for me. My main focus is to rid anti-party elements led by Bode George from the PDP and I understand why he is using my associates to fight me.

“Though we are already in court to compel the party to expel Bode George for his anti party activities and the severe damage he has caused to the ambition of hardworking candidates and members of the party However, we are using this medium to pass a vote of no confidence on Bode George that he is not fit to be a member of the party let alone someone that can be referred to as the supreme leader of the party in the state,” he stated.
