Lagos Police Busts Syndicate That Lures Nigerian Girls Abroad For Prostitution, Child Labour
Lagos Police has busted a syndicate that specialised in luring teenage Nigerian girls abroad for prostitution and child labour.
The suspects, Chike Aniebonam and Donald Ovikute, are currently in police custody. Authorities had been monitoring them for some time, as they were on the police watchlist.
The operation to apprehend the suspects involved detectives going undercover, posing as hotel patrons. This strategic move allowed them to catch the suspects off guard and successfully rescue 12 teenage ibo girls.
Upon their arrest, Aniebonam and Ovikute reportedly confessed to having operated their illicit business for the past seven years.
