Tinubu To Newspapers On Birthday Celebration: I’ll Apologise Later
President Bola Tinubu has spoken further on why he cancelled any elaborate birthday for himself on March 29.
Recall that President Tinubu had said last week that he would not celebrate his 72nd birthday due to some prevailing issues in the country.
Tinubu however, restated that such ceremony will be out of tune with the national mood.
Besides, he said that he didn’t want government agencies to use public money to place congratulatory adverts for him in the broadcast and print media.
President Tinubu restated that he would rather want well wishers give the money to orphanages or old people’s homes.
He acknowledged that newspapers who were expecting to make money may have been hurt.
“I know they will be angry with me. But I will apologise to them later,” he said.
