Amidst the evolving situation in Kogi State, indications suggested a potential rift between the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, and his political mentor, former Governor Yahaya Bello. Reports from the state indicated brewing crisis between the two figures.

Sources within the Government House, speaking anonymously, have disclosed mounting pressure on Governor Ododo to take the younger sister of the immediate past First Lady, Hajia Rashida Bello, as his second wife.

Some sources however suggested the lady in question is a relative of the controversial Chief of Staff to Governor Usman Ododo, Ali Bello.

The objective, the source explained, is to make the incoming wife the First Lady of the State.

The argument put forward is that Hajia Sefiyah Ododo is a bit deficient in education.

Expectedly, the current First Lady will not just sit and watch her hard-earned seat being taken from her just like that, so it resulted in fights and breaking of the first lady’s doors and changing of locks.

To make matters worse, former Governor Yahaya Bello and wife Rashida have allegedly refused to leave the government house amidst ongoing legal issues involving an alleged N10 billion money laundering case filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Governor Usman Ododo is said to currently reside in his former apartment from his tenure under Bello’s administration, while Bello occupies the Presidential suite within Lord Lugard House.
