Super Eagles Performance At AFCON: Mission Accomplished As Peseiro Now Aims For 1st Ever Silverware
The Super Eagles’ qualification for the semi-finals of the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations means that their coach, Jose Peseiro has met the major condition that will allow his contract renewal.
The Portuguese coach initial contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, lapsed last year June.
With Nigeria in the middle of the qualification for the current AFCON and a looming 2026 World Cup qualifying series, the coach was offered a short-term contract tied to taking Nigeria to the semi-finals of the current Africa Cup of Nations.
Beating Angola 1-0 in the quarter-finals means the Portuguese coach has met the condition.
If eventually the Super Eagles win the trophy, it will also be a personal triumph for the coach as it will be his first ever silverware, either as a player or a coach.
