I Am Not Planted To Destabilise New Era, Says Rotimi Olumo …Urges Tinubu To Open Nigerian Borders

 Comrade Rotimi Balogun aka Rotimi Olumo is presently the ‘governor’ of The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) New Era in Oyo State after he parted ways with the Gani Adams-led faction of the group on accounts of wrong accusation that he collected money from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his campaign a development which has weakened the structure of Gani Adams faction in the pacesetters State.
In this interview with Kunle Bakare, Comrade Olumo revealed his new year plans for the people of Oyo State among other issues bothering the nation.

Since you left the Gani Adams faction of the OPC, much has not been heard about the group can you tell us what is happening in the New Era?
Thank you very much for the privilege you gave me. First and foremost, I have to wish the people of Nigeria a happy new year, most especially my people in Oyo State. I pray that this year will be prosperous for all of us,  I also want to thank the National President of New Era, Comrade Rasak Arogundade for given me a soft landing when I left Gani Adams as everyone knew I denounced him publicly.
As for the plans of New Era under my leadership in Oyo State, which I mentioned during my inauguration, I plan to further boost the name positively more than I met it. Also, we are committed to cultural promotion and to ensure that my followers get better and rewarding jobs by collaborating with the other security agents in the state through a robust romance with the friendly Governor of the state, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde.
At least everybody in the state was aware of our involvement in the apprehension of the notorious Iskilu Wakilu. Then, I was with Gani Adams and now that I have moved all my loyalists to New Era, the structure of Gani Adams is no more in Oyo State.
I will also use all the power within me and my people to collaborate with other security agencies in the state to curb terrorism in the state.
I also want to express my readiness to work together with Governor Seyi Makinde in terms of addressing the security situation in the state. I want to tell the people of the state to sleep with their eyes closed because the Governor has done much in protecting the lives and properties of the people of the state.
Is it true that you were planted to destabilise the New Era group in Oyo State?
There is no iota of truth in that and I want to tell everyone that I am not a traitor and let me tell you, I cannot go back to Gani Adams. In fact, I have challenged him to come out with the evidence of where I and my counterpart in Osun State took money from President Bola Tinubu. I am pleased to inform the general public that we both left him because despite all that we did for Gani Adams he paid us in bad ways.
As for my people in New Era we were all with Gani before and we know ourselves.
I did not join OPC because of material things, I joined because of self determination to be among the people that will liberate Yoruba land. Let me tell you, since I left Gani Adams I have travelled to different countries of the world and I still have visas to travel to many other countries, but I am staying behind in the country for my people. I determined to join the OPC in 1997 to work for the liberation of the Yoruba race.
God used the New Era to wipe my tears and I will forever be thankful to them. So I am not planted by anybody to destabilise the group, most especially the leaders and the followers and I thank them. I came into New Era with 100 percent loyalty, which I had for Gani Adams then, but you know that sometimes people may not know the value of what they have until they lose it.  I’m not the only me that left Gani Adams, you can also confirm from the then OPC leader in Osun State, Comrade Aladesawe with whom I was accused of collecting N35 Million from President Tinubu.
Let me also tell you that Comrade Adeola willingly left Gani Adams because it was obvious that Gani was using  OPC for his selfish interest. So, if anyone thinks or dreams that I want to destabilise New Era, it’s untrue and I will use all that I have to move the group to the next level so that the people of the state will know that we are reliable.
A lot of people know that you do other things aside OPC like dealing in properties and others yet you still maintain a reasonable lifestyle, can you tell us about this?
My sincere answer to that question is that I am contented with whatever God has given me and I don’t want to be like anybody. Infact, it’s God and that is why I want to advise our youths to be upright in all their dealings with people because you are the representative of your family and you have a name to protect.
Also I tell my business partners to always be truthful so as to protect their names. I try to move away from things that can dent my image.
What will be your message to our leaders based on the hardship in the country?
President Bola Tinubu should declare emergency on food because the people are suffering. Infact l cannot count the number of people that come to me daily asking for money for food. The hardship is too much and that is why I am passionately appealing to the President to please open the borders for food to be sufficient in the country.
