I Don’t Want To Lose My Child, Nigerians Should Come To My Aid-Funmilayo Cries Out
A middle aged Nigerian lady, Mary Oluwaseun Funmilayo has cried out to Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to assist her to legally take possession of her only child; Angel Oluwatobi who is currently in the custody of the Oyo State government.
Mary, who is currently being assisted by an Ibadan, Oyo State-based international Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Hands of Love Family Foundation, while speaking with journalists, stated that her predicament began when her erstwhile boyfriend, Yinka Adebayo, an indigene of Ekiti State impregnated her and refused to accept the pregnancy which produced Angel Oluwatobi in February 2017.
Mary while narating her ordeal hinted that she was introduced to her boyfriend by a man identified as daddy Oba in 2015.
The lady, who spoke with tears in her eyes, attended Baptist Secondary School, Oke Ado, before proceeding to Alayande College of Education and later went to the Oyo State College of Education, where she studied Agricultural education.
Although Mary speaks without any trace of mental disorder, the absence of her child whom she has never sighted in the last six months is driving her insane which can be seeing physically in her mode of dressing.
“The guy who impregnated me is Yinka Adebayo, a fashion designer who also specialises in embroidery and he refused to take the paternity of the child, as he claimed that other men were sleeping with me at that time and I didn’t have any opportunity to defend my loyalty to him while our relationship lasted.
“I was also working as a cleaner with a former governor of the old Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo before the government officials took my child away from me and I don’t think there is anything I can do correctly without my child,” she lamented.
Mary is being treated at the University College Hospital (UCH) on the bills of the Hands of Love Family Foundation, which is working on securing her child for her and plans to provide a befitting accommodation for her.
She was however, highly elated when the news was relayed to her that she will take possession of her child next week after six months of being in the custody of the government.
24-year-old Mary begged Nigerians to come to her aid in getting a good accommodation, and a job that will enable her cater for her only child.
“I am an orphan and I am a product of the streets. I don’t know any of my baby’s Father’s relatives and I am ready to raise my only child,” Mary said.
Mrs. Gloria Ukagwu, while speaking about the incident, told journalists that her NGO is presently working towards getting Mary her only child, adding that she was particularly interested in Mary’s case because of her passion to assist the less privileged and downtroden in the society.
According to her, “yesterday we went to the ministry to put things in order for the release of Mary’s child and we have begun the process of getting him a good school with boarding facilities.
“That is why many wealthy Nigerians should assist the Hands Of Love Family Foundation and other NGOs to cater for the people with disabilities,” she said.
Mrs. Ukagwu pledged not to relent in her efforts of catering for the needy in the society.
It will be recalled that the foundation donated food items worth several millions of naira to over 1000 less privileged and widows last month.
