Some of the personalities at the event held at the NUJ secretariat in Ibadan, the state capital, included the NUJ National Trustee (B Zone) Comrade Adebayo Akamo; Oyo NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola; and the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Raji Adebayo.
Recall that the Federal Government had said that it will disburse palliatives to indigent Nigerians to cushion the recent of the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
Oguntoyinbo, who was the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of NNPP in Ogun State, urged the Federal Government to publish the names of the beneficiaries on the pages of newspapers to ensure transparency and accountability.
The politician questioned the rationale behind sharing money to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
He maintained that the money should be channelled towards the growth and progress of the nation.
“There is no transparency and clarity in the activities of the government. For transparency, let all the names of the beneficiaries of the palliatives be published in national newspapers with their account number before the palliatives are disbursed.
“Nigerians don’t expect money from the government, what they need is good governance, good road network, and stable electricity. Let us begin to enjoy the dividends of democracy by giving poor Nigerians monthly allowances,” he said.
