Foundation Gives Food Items, Cash To Widows, PLWDs In Lagos Community

OLO Foundation (OLOF), a non governmental organisation ,on Tuesday distributed food items and cash to widows and People Living With Disabilities(PLWDs) in Ayobo, Ayobo/Ipaja Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

Mr Oladipupo Oluwaloni,  Chief Executive Officer  of the foundation, said ,during the distribution, that the items were given   to cushion the effects of  the present economic realities on vulnerable people in the community.

 

Oluwaloni, also the Vice Chairman Ayobo Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), said that the foundation had been in existence for 19 years, helping the less privileged in the community.

“I think this gesture will make  widows and  People Living With Disabilities  in the community happy.

“We all know that things are not easy in the country at the moment as prices of food items and cost of living have  gone up.

So ,we are giving  out rice, beans, garri and N2500 to each of  the benefitting  vulnerable people  in the community today, to support them.

“This is not our first time of doing this;  we have been doing this  on a regular basis  for the past 19 years,and we are not giving  beneficiaries based on political affiliation ,ethnicity or religion.

“I hope  that these items will go a long way to reduce the hardship faced by widows and People Living With Disabilities in this area” he said.

The Vice Chairman assured  that the foundation  would continue to support needy residents,saying it would soon organise a  free medical outreach to give residents easy access to care.

He urged  well -meaning individuals and organisations in the community to emulate the gesture by supporting the needy at the grassroots.

Mrs Esther Ojo,  one of the beneficiaries, thanked the NGO for the  food items and money.

Ojo, a septuagenarian,  said that she would use the money to settle her debt.

“I thank God for this opportunity and I also thank the foundation . This money given to me will be used to settle my debt as I am owing a  food vendor in my area.

“Also ,the  food items given to me will go a long way to help  me and my family, ” she said.

Mr Bayo Oluwole, a beneficiary and a physically- challenged person,also thanked the NGO for items and cash.

He said  the cash and  food items would sustain him and his family for two weeks or more.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that hundreds of widows and PLWDs in the community benefitted from the programme.(NAN).
