Ganduje predicts the addition of additional parties to merge with the APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is preparing to expand its influence further. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman, hinted that certain political parties were contemplating merging with the ruling party. He shared this insight with journalists at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, just before the arrival of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who is a ministerial nominee, along with some key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Accompanying Ganduje was Simon Lalong, former governor of Plateau State and another ministerial nominee. Ganduje remarked that Wike’s visit marked the start of positive developments in the APC’s membership drive, aligning with his inaugural acceptance speech on August 3.

Regarding speculation about Wike’s potential defection to the APC, Ganduje responded, “We did not discuss the issue of his coming to APC or not coming to APC. That issue will arise later.” However, he added that if Wike were to join the APC, it would enhance the party’s electoral prospects in 2027. Ganduje emphasized that the party was working on a new strategy to broaden its support base, encompassing both current APC members and those from other political parties. He disclosed that the APC was in the process of subtle negotiations to facilitate mergers with other political parties.

Ganduje provided insight into his meeting with Wike, stating that they discussed Wike’s ministerial designation. He mentioned Wike’s commitment to contributing significantly to the ministry’s progress once he assumes the role.

Lalong, who served as the Director-General of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, expressed confidence in Ganduje’s leadership, affirming that his extensive political experience made him well-suited to lead the party towards greater achievements. Lalong highlighted Ganduje’s notable background, including his lengthy tenure in the civil service, roles as Permanent Secretary, commissioner, deputy governor, and eventually governor.

Lalong stressed that Ganduje’s leadership was not a one-man endeavor but a collective effort, with fellow governors supporting his initiatives. He expressed the belief that Ganduje’s experience and collaborative approach would drive the party’s success.
