June 12: Cleric Urges Yoruba Leaders To Support Tinubu
A renowned cleric, Alhaji Ismaheel Salahudeen Amala, has called on Yoruba leaders to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his bid to transform the country and bring the dividends of democracy to the downtrodden.
Alhaji Amala, Founder and Spiritual Head of An – Najihun Islamic Association based in Ibadan, Oyo State, stated this, while speaking with journalists during the special edition of the association’s weekly programme to commemorate the June 12, 1993, a day set aside to remember the 1992 presidential election believed to have been won by the late philanthropist, Chief MKO Abiola.
While delivering his sermon, Alhaji Amala, who quoted Quran 15 verse 112, reminded Nigerians to always put their trust in God rather than in man and quickly reminded Nigerian leaders not to let the people down by fulfilling there electioneering promises to the people.
Speaking about the removal of the subsidy on petroleum, the cleric urged President Tinubu to think of all the social amenities that will make life meaningful and make them available to the people.
“Transportation and food are paramount to the people and if the government can open the borders for food items to come in, the effect of the hardship will not be too much. Also electricity should be made available and with that so many things will be in order,” he said.
He however, commended the President for the decisions he has made so far withing the few days he got into office, and blamed the nation’s past leaders for their rush in getting freedom for Nigeria.
The cleric, who just returned to the country from Cote’de Voire, said that French, who colonised the country still live very much with them, which he said informed their level of development.
“Throughout my over one week stay there, I never witnessed power outage or water scarcity and we were always on the road till day break without hindrances. That is why I’m calling on our government to find a lasting solution to the security problems facing Nigeria,” he said.
He however urged Nigerians to embrace love in their dealings, saying that it is only in the atmosphere of love that the country can move forward .
“Those in government should love the people while the masses should also love and pray for their leaders,” he said.
Alhaji Amala, who is also the Mogaji Alfa of Ogun Elu , Are – Alasa, in his message to Muslims, urged them to believe in Allah and do things according to the commandment of God.
“Muslims should observe the fast approaching Salah with the fear of Allah” to emulate prophet Ibrahim,” he said.
