Just in: Alex Otti wins Abia governorship election for Labour Party
Governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Alex Otti, has been declared winner of the state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Professor Nnenna Oti, INEC returning officer for the state announced Dr. Otti winner on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the results announced by the returning officer, Otti scored 175, 467 votes to beat his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of PDP who had 88,529 votes.
The announcement of Otti had been delayed following alleged attempts by the PDP to inflate votes from Obingwa local government, the home local government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the incumbent governor of the state.
