Makinde Absent At PDP Presidential Campaign Rally In Ibadan

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, one of the G-5 Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, was conspicuously absent at the presidential campaign rally of the party held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday.

In his address at Mapo Hall Ibadan venue of the event, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar promised to boost industrialization and eradicate any form of strike in the nation’s universities.

Atiku, who was in accompanied by his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Emmmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State, Director General of the council, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, serving and former governors, members of the National Assembly, a host of other party big wigs and supporters, commended the supporters of the party, saying, “We want to thank Oyo people for their support which is evident here. You have been here all days despite the sun, it is a clear indication of your support and loyalty.”

He further said, “Let me use this opportunity to commend Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the PDP family in the state for making the rally a remarkable one.

He added, “The people of the South-West have been known for agitating for restructuring, and by restructuring we mean giving more powers or autonomy to the states . It is one of the five pillars in our programme to make sure that we implement restructuring. This means that more resources and more powers will be given to you so that you can develop at your own pace in your state as well as in your local governments.

“We are committed to ensuring that there are no more strikes in our universities. It means that we will fund our universities, pay our teachers jn time so that we don’t have any distraction in our academic activities.”

“South-West is also known for business, that is why in our economic programme we are committed to ensuring that the industrialization of the region is achieved and have the support of the federal government. This is part of our commitments.

“There are five major commitments that we made to the people of this country. For unity, we will make sure that there is inclusion for every part of this country. Every part of the country will be represented in our government, not like what the All Progressives Congress (APC) government is doing,” Atiku said..
