SPAEN, CDIC To Sponsor 2022 Walk To Live For Children Living with Diabetes
The Society For Paediatrics and Adolescents Endocrinology in Nigeria (SPAEN), in Collaboration Changing Diabetes in Children (CDIC), will on Monday, November 14, 2022 hold a walk to live for the children living with diabetes mellitus.
Information made available to First Weekly Magazine through the coordinator of the programme, Dr. Oluwakemi Ashubu disclosed that the event is scheduled to hold from 7:00am.
It added that the 10 kilometre walk, which is sponsored by the Changing Diabetes In Children (CDIC) group, will involve children living with diabetes mellitus, their parents and healthcare professionals that are managing them.
According to her, “the theme of the programme is; “Education to Protect Tomorrow,” which is aimed at sensitising the general public that “children too can have diabetes.”
“Some people still believe that only adults can have diabetes, but research has shown that the ailment can also be found in children.
“Diabetes requires a proper care and it is very expensive to manage, therefore we use this medium to thank our donors who have been supporting us ”
The walk will involve the children, their parents and health care professionals managing them.
