Slain Olu of Agodo Egba, Olajide Odetola Goes Home October 21

Egba Traditional Chiefs are set to give a befitting rites to His Royal Highness, the Olu of Agodo Egba, Oba Olajide Olayinde Odetola.

The Chiefs revealed the burial programme at a press conference jointly addressed by Imo, Agodo and Egba Traditional Chiefs.

The burial programme will kick off on Tuesday October 18, 2022 with a service of songs to be followed by a special traditional rite on Wednesday October 19, while the traditional burial ceremony holds on Thursday October 20, 2022.

The Chiefs further revealed that a special Fidau prayer will come up on Friday October 21, 2022, while the one week-long burial programme will come to an end with a thanksgiving service on Sunday October 22, 2022.

Speaking at the press parley, the Balogun of Agodo Egba, Chief Sikiru Amodu called on the people of Agodo and Egbas in general to troop out in large number to accord the late monarch a heroic farewell.

Other Egba high chiefs present at the press conference were Chief Tunde Adesina, Odofin Imo, Chief Amodu, Are Itori land and Amona Baaroyin of Egba land, Amona Tajudeen Oladeinde as well as Agodo Egba Chiefs, Imo Chiefs and Baales in Egbaland.

The late Olu of Agodo Egba, Oba Olajide Olayinde Odetola was murdered by some assailants some months ago.

His sudden death attracted sporadic reaction from the Egbas both at home and abroad consequent upon which the law enforcement agencies swung into action that led to the arrest of some suspects that have now been remanded at a correctional centre.
