Ayu Can Only Be Removed If PDP’s Constitution Is Amended- Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has said that the only way the National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorcha Ayu can be removed is only for the party’s constitution to be amended.

Atiku made this clarification as the Southwest leaders and stakeholders unanimously agreed at the interactive session with him that the only panacea for peace to rein in the party in the interest of unity, justice and fair play, is for Ayu to resign or be removed.

Speaking on behalf of Southwest PDP leaders, the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde noted that the PDP must restructure itself before it will restructure Nigeria

He noted that one of the conditions to restructure the party is for Ayu to resign.

Makinde explained that Alhaji Atiku is from the north, while Ayu is also from the north.

He noted that one of the conditions to balance the equation is to choose the National Chairman of the party from the South since the presidential candidate is from the North.

“We must speak the truth. The truth is that we don’t have any issue either with the party or the candidate.

“We don’t have any issue in the PDP. This is not about the individual. Those are the issues that are behind us, it has happened, it has happened.

“One of the conditions to restructure the party is for Ayu to resign,” he said.
