Why I Dropped My Presidential Ambition For Tinubu-Amosun

The immediate past governor of Ogun State and the Senator representing Ogun Central, Ibikunle Amosun has revealed why he dropped his presidential ambition at the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Abuja recently.

Senator Amosun, while addressing a large gathering of APC members drawn from the 20 local governments in the state, who converged on Ake Palace ground in Abeokuta, explained that his interest to become the next president of Nigeria was just 20 per cent, while his ultimate ambition for the emergence of the APC flag bearer from the South West was 80 per cent.

He said that since other zones have given their support to the emergence of a south western candidate, he had no choice but to support his 80 percent ambition

“My wanting to be the president of Nigeria is just 20 percent, while 80 percent of it is that I want the presidential candidate to come from the South West. Lo and behold, God Almighty has answered our prayers and ultimately, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is now our flag bearer,” he said.

While appealing to the APC members and the people of Ogun State to vote for Asiwaju Tinubu and APC at the general elections in 2023, he noted that the prevailing problems in the country on the economy and security among others, are surmountable.

“We will overcome the problems bit by bit. Nigeria will be great, trust me. I tell you, except for insecurity hindering the achievements of this administration, good times are returning to Nigeria,” he said.

Appreciating the gatherings for yielding to the call of the organizers of the rally under 24 hours, Senator Amosun promised to live up to the expectations of the people, adding that apart from the revered elder statesman and former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, no person in Ogun State has served the state more than he had done so far.
