2023: Oyo PDP May Lose Credibility Over Method Of Primary Election
There are strong indications that the alleged consensus candidature planned to be adopted by the state governor Engr. Seyi Makinde will further deepen the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Rising from an emergency meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State yesterday, aspirants for various elective positions in the Ibadan South West Local Government agreed to elect representatives of the party in the 2023 general election through primaries and not the consensus arrangement proposed by the state governor.
The meeting, according to our reporter indicated that all the aspirants were part of the meeting except the incumbent, Hon. Fowokanmi and Hon. Yusuf.
The aspirants who claimed to be long term members of the party however, called on Engr. Seyi Makinde to shelve his proposed choice of consensus candidature, particularly in Ibadan South West and work in the interest of the majority so that the party will not lose it’s credibility.
