The arrest of the suspended police boss, Abba KYARI has been commended and described as major breakthrough in the fight against drug importation and abuse into the country.

This position was made on Wednesday in Lagos by a non governmental organization, Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a press release signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, stressing that the era of the former Governor of Lagos state in the saddle of the NDLEA has witnessed tremendous progress in the fight against drug abuse .

The Executive Director equally admonished the agency not to rest on it’s oars by ensuring that all hands are on deck to reduce to the barest minimum drug importation into the country, which invariably will reduce drastically the consumption of illicit drugs across the country especially among the youth.

The group equally urged the NDLEA to carry out detailed and diligent prosecution of all involved in the shady deals and also expose those that are fingered along the line in the course of investigation,so that the whole matter will be dealt with faithfully and sincerely.

According to the CAIDOV Boss,” let me on behalf of the Board, management and staff of CAIDOV commend the leadership of the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) under the leadership of Brig Gen. Buba Marwa for the arrest of supposed super cop Abba Kyari and his co- travellers in the drug business. This arrest by the agency has shown the commitment of the agency now to fight against importation of illicit drugs into the country. ”

“The leadership of Brig. Gen Marwa has shown uncommon patriotism to the country and the well being of the people, especially the teeming youth. It’s also critical to appeal that the investigation of the accused persons must be executed thoroughly irrespective of who is involved. Those indicted must be prosecuted diligently to serve as deterrent to others who might want to use the uniform to perpetrate evil. ”

Finally, the group urged the NDLEA not to relent in the fight against drug abuse,as history will not forget the agency for standing firm in the battle against drugs..
