Oyo State has Lost An Astute Politician: Cleric, Ex Commissioner, Olowofela mourns

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has confirmed the death of former governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala.

Makinde made the confirmation, while speaking at an interfaith prayer session for Oyo State workers on Wednesday at the secretariat in Ibadan, the state capital.

The Governor said he just received the news of the demise of the former Governor.

He called everyone to observe a minute silence at the event.

Makinde, who couldn’t deliver his paper because of news of the death prayed for the family of the deceased.

The inter faith prayer was cut short afterward.

In a related development, the Governor also posted the news on his official twitter account.

It reads: “I join the good people of Oyo State to mourn the passing of a former Governor of our dear state, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, which sad event took place today. May his soul rest in peace and may God grant his family the fortitude to bear this great loss.

“I have directed that flags fly at half-mast in honour of Governor Alao-Akala, our brother, friend and illustrious son of Oyo State.

“His Excellency will be remembered for his contributions to the development of Oyo State as Governor, especially for taking infrastructural development to other zones of the state outside Ibadan.”

Prof Sabit Ariyo Olagoke, while condoling the good people of the state and the entire Alao Akala dynasty described his death as painful.

He however, prayed that Allah will grant him Aljanah Fridaous.

Former commissioner for education in Oyo State, Prof . Adeniyi Olowofela described his death as a loss to the APC and complete politics of the state.
