Another Oyo Monarch, Asigangan Joins Ancestors

Another traditional ruler in Oyo State, the Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye Lawuyi Aribiyan, has joined his ancestors.

Our correspondent reports that Igangan is one of the towns in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state.

First Weekly gathered that the traditional ruler joined his ancestors in the early hours of Tuesday.

Lateef Akorede, Chairman of Ibarapa North LGA confirmed the death of the monarch on Tuesday.

He described the demise of the monarch as a great loss to Ibarapa land and indeed the Yoruba race.

Akorede said, “I received the tragic news of the demise of our king, Oba Abdul- Azeez Adeoye Adewuyi, Aribiyan ||, Gbadewolu 1, the Asigangan of Igangan land who died early hours of today.

“This is a great loss to Ibarapa land and indeed the Yoruba race.

“We will miss your wisdom sir, your leadership, your love for this land, your endless support for anything Ibarapa. Indeed you were a great king that had the love of his people at heart. May your soul Rest In Peace.”

The death of Asigangan is coming less than 10 days after the death of Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.

Soun, who died penultimate Sunday, has been buried according to Islamic rites.
