Former IGP Gambo Jemita Dies of COVID19

A former Inspector General of Police and ex-National Security Adviser (NSA), Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta has reportedly died of COVID-19 complications.

Reports indicated that Jimeta died of the dreaded Pandemic in the evening of Thursday 21st January at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Gambo Jimeta, who hailed from Adamawa State, was appointed by former president Ibrahim Babangida in 1986 as the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force to succeed Etim Inyang and he was succeeded by Aliyu Attah in 1990.

He was also a National Security Adviser to ex-president Ibrahim Babangida and he was appointed as the minister of agriculture by the late head of state, Gen. Sanni Abacha.

Since its outbreak in Nigeria about 11 months ago, Coronavirus aka COVID-19, which originated from Wuhan, China has claimed several lives including those of prominent Nigerians.

Some of the prominent Nigerians that have died of the disease are former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, former governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Senator Kashamu Buruji, Senator Bayo Oshinowo aka Pepperito, Chief Lanre Rasak and just recently a former vice chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe amongst others.
