COVID-19 Palliatives: Murtala Mohammed Foundation Reaches Out to Widows in Kano

The negative effects of lockdown, particularly in Kano state have far-reaching effects, more especially in the daily lives of vulnerable who depend solely on day-to-day wages for their survival.

The situation has kindly prompted corporate bodies, foundations and well-meaning individuals striving towards provisions of relief packages as a means of palliative to ease the scorching poverty inflicted upon many, for staying indoors to abide by the strict government regulations.

Murtala Muhammed Foundation under the stewardship of Aisha Mohd Oyebode has extends its compassionate hands to forty-widows by generously distributing the relief packages of consumables to ease their daily distress.

While flagging off palliative distribution on Tuesday in Kano through the foundation representative, Mallam Jameelu Aminu, Aisha Oyebode call on the general public to know that the COVID-19 is real.

Adding that it is highly imperative for the public to observe constant social distancing, hands-washing and using face-masks, in an all efforts to compliments government efforts to flatten the spreads of the novel pandemic in Nigeria.

Aisha Oyebode said that the aim of distributing the consumables palliatives for the widows is deliberately aim towards cushioning the hard-effects inflicted by the lockdown.

Adding that the measures taken by the government were not meant to inflict hardship, but to protect its people from being affected by the universally contagious virus.

While receiving the relief packages for on-spot distribution, Tafidan Kano, Hakimin Fagge, Alh Muhammad Ado Bayero has commended Murtala Mohammed Foundation for the emphatic gesture, adding that it was apt and timely.

Alh. Muhammad Ado Bayero who was representated by Alh Maikudi Shittu said that widows are heavily part of the vulnerable afflict by the burden of feeding the family more especially in this hard times of staying at homes due to lockdown.

“The compassionate gesture is well-deserving and also inspire other corporate bodies, foundation and well-meaning individuals to continue trying the gesture in their own capacity” Muhammad Bayero added.

The widows, who are the sole beneficiaries were sorted out from 6- local governments areas within Kano municipality.
