The Commandant of National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano command Mallam Abdul Ibrahim said the State Commissioner of Police Mohammed Wakili is a hard-working law enforcement officer of national repute, who possessed hard-earn integrity, but goes beyond the confine of the law in the course of discharging his duties.

Abdul Ibrahim made the disclosure in an interview, while responding to newsmen in Kano sequel to the recent interception of drugs by Commissioner Wakili, which were publicly branded as Tramadol with no forensic evidence.

Abdul added that NDLEA and other agencies are an offshoot of Nigeria Police command enjoying the good working relationship, which laws have earmarked boundaries on how each agency should discharge its statutory duty without trespass.

Adding that supposed drugs apprehended and exhibited by Wakili to members of press without proper forensic verification, were not Tramadol, is an anti-inflammatory drug which serves the same purpose with “Feldene”.

” The problem with Wakili is, he has a good intention, but he doesn’t know how to policed illicit drugs, his work stops when he makes an arrest he supposes to take drugs case to the experts” Abdul added.

The Kano NDLEA Boss added that his agency has a constitutional superiority to take drug-related cases to federal high court under section 26 of the Nigerian constitution, not the police.

“Had it been Police have been abiding by the due protocols all this infraction could have been averted, we are friendly with Police in all where I served, in case of Wakili he has never transferred case to us” Kano commandant assured.

Mal. Abdul Ibrahim recalled that sometimes ago, Commissioner Wakili claimed to have apprehended two trucks of Tramadol, and he said it is practically not possible to see Tramadol in such magnitude, and one carton of Tramadol is 16 million Naira.

“He said he conveyed that illicit drugs to NAPDAC when we followed the case, we were shown substandard, fake and anti-malaria drugs, if for instance I asked CP Wakili to produce the two trucks, if he can’t he would be charged to court for tampering with exhibits” He added.
