Three More RECs Deployed To Kano For Supplementary Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deployed three Residents Electoral Commissioners (RECs) to oversee Kano State supplementary elections.
The RECs deployed are Professor Asamau Sani Maikudi of Zamfara, Professor Ganiyu Raji of Ogun and Alhaji Ahmad Mahmud of Kebbi.
Announcing the new development, Professor Risqua Arabi Shehu, Kano State REC, expressed the readiness of the commission to conduct credible elections.
Supplementary elections would hold in 28 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Of the 28 LGAs, there was over voting in 22 LGAs, while results were cancelled in 15 LGAs due to violence.
Risqua also said the commission is keen on concluding all elections on Saturday.
He said: “We are working hard to ensure we do not have disruptions as much as possible.
“We have had meetings with the political parties and we have appealed to them; that we operate an open door policy and we are ready to do any thing within the law to be fair to all.
