Kano’s Commerce Ministry and parastatals short-changed of 2018 budgetary allocations – Former Speaker Ata.

Former Kano state House of Assembly and chairman House committee on commerce Yusif Abdullahi Ata says that the state commerce ministry and parastatals under its control were not given what is rightly due, in 2018 budgetary allocation.

Yusif Ata made the disclosure while briefing newsmen, shortly after State Commissioner of Commerce Ahmad Rabiu and Managing Directors of ministry’s agencies depended their 2019 budget proposal.

The committee chairman added that the major observation during the interaction held with the commissioner and his MD’s many issues were raised and highlighted, which includes lack of funds releases to the ministry which has to do with 2018 budget.

“Virtually there weren’t any capital funds given to them, only overhead and personnel cost given to the ministry,” said the committee chairman.

Ata blamed the ministry for not making an adequate follow-up to the House committee in order to press up their demand to redeem what is rightly theirs with regard to the funds allocated to the ministry in 2018. budget.

Noting that the only contact ministry makes with the House committee on commerce is an only bilateral discussion of depending budget proposal which held once in a year.

Yusif Abdullahi Ata urged the commerce and its parastatals to maintain a cordial relationship with the committee in order to forestall further occurrence.

He pledges that something tangible must be done to ensure prompt releases of funds allocated to the Kano State ministry of commerce and its agencies during the implementation of the 2019 budget.
