NADABO Company Demands Police To Charge Multinational Company For Money Laundering
Nadabo Energy Limited has urged the Police Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police Force to charge Trafigura Beheer BV to court for forgery and money laundering.
Trafigura, a multinational commodity trading company, is currently in court on a three-count charge of conspiring to steal 6,425,271 metric tonnes of Automotive Gas Oil worth about $8,442,806.094.
According to the charge sheet, Trafigura with six other entities came together to conspire to steal the Automotive Gas Oil, which is said to be the property of Nadabo Energy Limited and under the legal custody of Spring Bank PLC, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In the petition written by legal counsel of Nadabo, Emefo Etudo, the company maintained that preliminary investigation implemented by the police revealed that money laundering was carried-out but expressed shock it was not among the charges filed against Trafigura.
Nadabo also alleged that solicitors of Trafigura are also working to ensure justice does not prevail in the case.
“Charge need to also be filed against said lawyers in respect of offences of forgery and obstruction of justice they have committed especially when they assisted those companies to move the trading assets of Trafigura Beheer BV to Trafigura Pte Limited.”
The lawyers identified as Babatunde Fagbohunlu and Adeniyi Adegbonmire were said to have aided Trafigura to forge documents in carrying out the transaction without being apprehended by the law.
“Adeniyi Adegbonmire colluded with Adekunle Gansallo and some others and forged and uttered documents in an attempt to assist Trafigura as aforesaid
“Babatunde Fagbohunlu of Aluko & Oyebode in His scheme was involved with obstructing various platforms of Federal Government put in place to do justice over the Trafigura subject matter fraud against Nadabo.”
Nadabo asked the Police SFU to further investigate the actions of the lawyers in the deal and ensure they were brought to face the law.
Etudo maintained that it would produce documents to back his claims in seeing that Trafigura together with his associates is made to make up for the damages incurred by Nadabo.
The matter is set to come up for hearing on the 22nd of October 2018.
