Chelsea on Saturday, unveiled former Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri, as their new head coach on a three-year deal.

Napoli’s president revealed Sarri was close to finalising a deal to take over at Chelsea on Wednesday, two days before Antonio Conte’s sacking was confirmed by the Premier League club.

Former Chelsea forward Gianfranco Zola will be appointed as his assistant, according to Sky in Italy.

“I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career.

“I look forward to starting work and meeting the players on Monday ahead of travelling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.

“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves,” Sarri said.

Chelsea have also announced the transfer of Jorginho from Napoli.

The Italian midfielder becomes the Blues’ first signing of the summer.

Jorginho, who snubbed a move to Manchester City, has signed a five-year contract and will wear the no. 5 shirt.

“I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy.

”I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win,” he told the club’s official website.

Club director, Marina Granovskaia, added: “We are delighted Jorginho has chosen to join Chelsea. He was one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe and will become an important member of the playing squad.

“He has demonstrated his quality working under Maurizio Sarri and we are convinced his signing will help bring further success to Stamford Bridge.”
