29-Year-Old Man Remanded For Raping 14-Year-Old Boy In Ogun

An Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Ago-Iwoye has remanded 29-year-old, Idris Mariam, for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy (name withheld) in Muslim High School Area of Ago-Iwoye.

Mariam  reportedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with the survivor eight times, since December 23, 2024, in her room.

This was contained in statement signed and made available to media men by the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Ogun State command, Dyke Ogbonnaya, on Tuesday.

Ogbonnaya disclosed that the incident was reported to the command by the survivor’s mother.

He stated that the defendant, charged under Section 32 of the Child Rights Law of Ogun State, Nigeria 2006, was remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ijebu-Ode, for 60 days.

Ogbonnaya said, ”The victim in the course of investigation, opened up that the defendant has been sexually assaulting  him since December 23, 2024  and it happened for eight successive times.

“After the completion of investigation, a motion for ex parte to remand the defendant at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ijebu-Ode, for 60 days was filed by the legal team of the State Command at Ago-Iwoye Magisterial Court.”

The command spokesperson noted that prayer of the Corps to remand the defendant was granted by the court under His Worship O.F Adeduntan (Mrs).

The statement added that a duplicate case file has been forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ogun State Ministry of Justice, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for legal advice.
